Fun! Fun! Fun!

What happens when you take a gorgeous and ever-patient model (Sarah A Robertson), a creative and talented makeup artist (Tracy Kane), a beautiful wedding gown (Red Cross Shop) and an enthusiatic and slightly mad photographer (me)? GREAT PICTURES!! These were taken on a freezing cold day in Aberdeen last week. The shoot nearly didn't happen as I thought my camera had been stolen from my car. I was on my way (with sinking heart) to call the police and my insurance company when it was found wrapped up in the wedding dress. The elation I felt was akin to Christmas, and set me on a high for the rest of the day. Lol - I'm blaming that anyway!

My Studio

People often ask me whether or not I have a studio, and when I tell them I don't, they ask if I wished I did have. Actually, when I think about it, I have the most WONDERFUL studio. This northeastern corner of Scotland is full of interesting shapes and colours. Sure, the weather is temperamental, but it rarely rains ALL day and being cold is just a state of mind (and can be overcome by dressing properly lol). It's worth it, because I couldn't BUY backgrounds like these.

Qualifications :-)

After presenting a panel of 20 portraits to the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers, I have been awarded my Licentiateship. This adds to the CPT (Contemporary Photography Training) Award from the Annabel Williams Studio for my year-long photography and business course. Thanks to John Baikie (www.captiv8.uk.com) for his advice and encouragement in getting me thus far.

Munlochy Wedding

I travelled up to Inverness on 18th October for the wedding of Jim and Donna. We went to a glorious old cathedral to take the photographs after the service. The rain stayed off long enough for us to get some great pictures, and then we headed back to Drumossie Hotel for more fun. While the rest of us are suffering the onset of winter, Jim and Donna have jetted off to Hawaii.... (I'm not jealous, I'm not jealous, I'm not jealous :-)

Wee Shooz

Peterhead shopowner Nicola Strong of 'Wee Shooz' has been very kind in allowing me to hang some of my pictures in her shop over the last year. I thought it was time for an update, so I headed out to the farm with a pair of wellies and a raincoat from the shop, and delightful Stephen (aged 2). The results were mud, laughter and great new photos to hang in the shop :-)

Young @ Heart

My cousin Chriz is one of my favourite models, so I was happy to take some promotional shots of the theatre group he helps to run, Young @ Heart. Look forward to your next performance, guys!

DND (Do Not Disturb)

DND (Do Not Disturb) is my latest, exciting photography venture! The main aim of these photographs is to make woman of all ages, shapes and sizes feel good about themselves, and of course, to look as fabulous and sexy as they know they can. A makeup artist and stylist is on hand just before the shoot to provide a truly relaxing and pampering experience.

Real Life Weddings Magazine Autumn/Winter 2008

Scott and Emma Morrison got married in Kemnay at the end of May. They had the most gorgeous wedding, and I felt very lucky to have been asked to be their photographer. I felt even luckier when Emma made the front cover of Real Life Weddings Magazine, along with a five-page spread showing images taken throughout the day! Take a look here for the full feature: http://www.reallifeweddings.co.uk/RLWwebpages/w08p134.html

Two Golds Awards in September SWPP Competition

Absolutely delighted to have been awarded two Golds in September's SWPP Competition! The raincoat image (Gold in Pictorial) was
taken in London - goodness knows what they were advertising (a raincoat shop?), but I thought it looked pretty spectacular. The other was from a DND Shoot in Dundee at the beginning of September and won a Gold in Fashion and Beauty. :-)
